Dr. Anna Wolak, Medical Director, is a Family Physician and Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the University of British Columbia. She is fluent in English and Filipino. Her practice focuses on all ages, including prenatal and postpartum care, newborn care, and paediatrics. She studied at the medical schools of the University of the Philippines (INTARMED program), the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston), and the University of Adelaide (Australia). After completing her training in family medicine at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Modbury Public Hospital, Dr. Wolak moved to Canada where she earned her Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada and is a member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia, the Society of General Practitioners of B.C., Doctors of B.C., and the Vancouver Division of Family Practice. Before establishing her medical practice in Vancouver, Dr. Wolak had a large family medicine practice in Osoyoos, and was an Emergency Room doctor at the South Okanagan General Hospital.
Dr. Wolak is very active in medical education. She is the past Chair of the Planning Committee of UBC/Vancouver Coastal Health's highly respected Annual Postgraduate Review in Family Medicine conference, served on the Planning Committee of UBC's CME on the Run! She is also a member of the Vancouver Division of Family Practice’s Primary Maternity Care Network Committee and the Primary Maternity Care CME Task Force.
For her work in post-graduate medical education in Canada, she was honoured as one of RBC's "Top 25 Canadian Immigrants" in 2014 and was a nominee for the B.C. Multicultural Awards.
Outside of the office, Dr. Wolak enjoys spending time with her husband Arthur and their three children, volunteering on school committees, reading and cooking.
